General information: We have offered,
through this project, the lightest, the most portable, most flexible and cheepest water
well drilling rig for the Romanian market today. The ultralight water well
drilling rig 80m 6HP is used for drilling (30…80 m deep) water wells, having small
diameters (Ø230 mm borehole), which can be cased with plastic tubes of small
diameters (Ø140x5,4mm) being glued or screwed. The exploitation of the water
wells is done with a new generation of electric water pumps (submersible pumps
having small diameters (Ø100mm) or surface types having Venturi down to hole ejector tube).
The water drilling rig is offered for a large market made of small land owners, small
entrepreneurs, small business enterprises, small farmers etc., and it has a huge market succes in Romania and also in European Union,
because it has the best price/quality ratio for water well drilling
The rig uses the classical
method of drilling known as: Mud Rotary Drilling, with direct
circulation of the mud drilling fluid. The powerhead engine turns the drill
stem which has a Drill Bit screwed into end. As the Drill Bit drills down into
Earth, the mud Pump recirculates a drilling fluid down the drill stem and out
the drill bit. This drilling fluid is pushed up the borehole and flows into a
mud pit. After the cuttings (soil, sand, clay) flow into the mud pit, the
heavier cuttings settles out of the drilling fluid and the Mud Pump pumps the
drilling fluid back down into the bore-hole to repeat this process. The Mud
Rotary drilling method of drilling is very common and is the same method that
the oil drilling rigs uses.
The drilling
line (drilling stems and drilling bit) is rotational driven from a small gasoline engine (four strokes, vertical shaft, power=6 Hp). The
drilling head contains also a centrifugal clutch for in-load starting (also
acting as safety device and as a uncupling device for isolating the drill stem from tha engine during the screwing, un-screwing the drilling pipes)
, a heavy-duty planetary gearhead, the heavy-duty bearings of the
drilling head, power swivel for pushing the drilling fluid in the drilling line
while it is rotating, the acceleration command device of the engine
The maneuvering (raising and lowering with a drill
pitch) of the drilling line is done from a manual ratchet drawwork through the
maneuvering system (mobile pulley type) with consist of a crown block sheave
and a traveling block sheave. The drilling head is guided on the both front
mast columns, the third back mast column is sustained the drawwork. The pushing
of the drilling bit is done by the weight of the drilling head and by the
supplementary weights hanged from the drilling head. The drilling bits and
reamers are covered for hardening through brazing with granules of tungsten
(wolfram) carbide. There are also used three blade bits 230mm diameter, armoured with tungsten carbide chips and
three cones bits Ø215 mm diameter. After the casing with the VALROM 140x5.4mm PVC Tubes (having collar, thread, oring seal and SCREEN filters with 03-05mmm faints),
it is done the de-silting, the clearing and the putting in production of the well, which is done with the MAMOUTH pump
(2.2 KW electrocompressor), using the air-lift procedure.
The efficiency of
drilling is due to:
1. The maintaining of a very good circulation of the
drilling fluid: a good circulation is ensured by using of the drilling fluid
additives (i.e. bentonite and a polymer gel). They allow the settling of the
heavier cuttings, the washing of the cuttings from the well, the preventing of
the collapsing of the well and stops the loosing of circulation in case of
porous and depleted geological layers, also in case of drilling through the
first aquifer layer (which is usually polluted). The drilling always stops in
case of loosing circulation; the drill stems are raised with a drill stem pitch
and restoring circulation is done.
2. The efficient drilling through several cuttings
with a set of 7 drilling bits and reamers, this method ensures a cheaper
drilling and an efficient prospecting of the aquifers.
The drilling sites which can
be prospected with the 80m 6HP rig: The 80m 6HP ultralight water drilling rig will perform best in favorable
drilling formations such as normal soil, clay, sand, sandstone. The rig has drilling bits and
reamers covered for hardening through brazing with granules of tungsten
(wolfram) carbide, for drilling through difficult formations such as: gravel,
limestone, sandstone, rocks, but if the formation is too hard, then the F rig
may not be feasible. We can profit in this case from the flexibility and the
mobility of the ultralight rig and we can try another drilling location 30…50 m
away. Two special devices (spoon-screw type) are used for removing the boulders
that can not be flushed up to surface and removed by the drilling fluid.

Caption and filtering the water
from the aquifer |
-with layer of “pea” gravel
(diameter of the granule Ø5mm) introduced at the bottom of the well borehole
between the wall of the borehole and the plastic PVC casing, on deep 6..10m
from the bottom of the borehole -it is always drilling for caption
of the aquifer water 2-3 meters under the aquifer layer. So, it is ensured a
greater caption and filtration zone without it the water well will get stuck
with mud and sand and will have a very small water flow -the first plastic PVC well casing
is a special filtering casing type SCREEN with H=2…3 m having small faints
0,3…2 mm thick, for caption and filtration of the aquifer water -the combination “pea” gravel and
SCREEN casing ensures the caption of the aquifer water from a extended
height, even we have careless drilled and we have overreach the height of the
aquifer stratum. It ensures a better filtration of the aquifer water from the
sand particles and it prevents the water well to get stuck from mud and sand
even the diameter of the well borehole is relatively small -the well is washing through
injection of clean water through the drilling stem line, after drilling and
casing, during a whole day. So we prevent the well from getting stuck and we
create a widely water caption zone |

Bentonite (fine

of the well borehole and loosing circulation in permeable stratums of sands
and gravel -they ensure the settling of the
heavier cuttings on the bottom of the recirculation reservoir -they prevent loosing circulation also in case of drilling through
the first aquifer layer (which is usually polluted and is useless) |

-classical
method of drilling known as: Mud Rotary Drilling, direct circulation -always we must maintain a good circulation of drilling fluid. We
must NOT drill without circulation. When loosing circulation we must raise
the drill stem line with less a stem pitch and we must add the drilling mud
additives for sealing the porous stratum -when changing the drill stem we must raise the drill stem line with
200mm from the bottom of the well borehole to prevent the drill bit to get
stuck with mud -during the drilling we must ensure a shock dynamic moving up an down
